There must be a linking feature between the different poems, and while these poems can stand alone, together they build up/develop the topic that they discuss.
A collection of poems is useful to writers because they can express many ideas on one topic in many ways and still group them together. The alternative to creating a collection of poems is condensing all of the ideas into one poem which will make the poem too hectic with various ideas, literary features, etc.
Possible Linking Features:
- Developing a character through memories of the speaker, showing a rite of passage, loss of innocence, gaining experience, maturing
- Same setting and exploring how different characters interact with the setting or how the setting changes with these characters (in developing a theme)
- The same theme is taken from different approaches.
