Spoken Word

Spoken word is a writer’s performance of a poem.

These poems are reflective of passionate emotions.

Since these poems are spoken, visual literary devices such as white space, stanzas and punctuation are ineffective. These poems rely heavily on rhythm, using rhyming and syllable count to create emphasis in the poem.

Since spoken word is a performance it also relies on gestures and facial expressions. It requires a bit of acting.

Like all performances, a bit of improvisation will be required at some point. Each time a spoken word is delivered it is subtly different from the previous one.
