Opening Task
10mins write an emotionally driven dialogue between two characters. NOTE: Dialogue should be kept realistic to your characters. We can do this by imagining our characters speaking to each other and asking if this is how people in real life sound.
Scripts and Skits Notes
Scripts include two things for an actor. Placement and the lines.
There is a big emphasis on dialogue and the lack of dialogue from a character in a script.
Scripts do not include how the line is delivered or any adjectives at all. The deliverance of the line is up to the actor and the director.
To remedy that we need to pay careful attention to the words that our characters say, focusing on the connotation and denotation of each word and experimenting with the phrasing until the meaning that is evident in the line is what we want our character to portray in that line.
Monologs are when one character speaks for an extended period of time without interruption. Can be either talking to themselves or to the audience (which is breaking the four wall and is rarely used). Monologs are mainly used for when the character is reflecting, making a realization.
Ending Task
In 15 minutes take the dialogue that you wrote and put it in the format from a script. Take time to reword what they say to better convey your message.
